Free State PTA Bylaws

The deadline for amendments to be considered at an annual meeting is January 1 preceding the annual meeting at which they will be considered.

Local and Council Bylaws Templates

Bylaws represent the most important legal document of a PTA. Bylaws define your PTA's mission, purpose and principles, and link your PTA to Free State PTA and National PTA. Bylaws additionally define the basic governance of your PTA in accordance with state and federal laws, establish meeting frequency, voting rights, and the duties and responsibilities of elected officers, committees, and members. It is critical that all members and officers understand their bylaws.

We have recently revised our local and council bylaws templates to reflect the most up to date information and procedures. For questions or concerns regarding bylaws, send an email to info@fspta.org.

Standards of Affiliation

Maintaining compliance is a shared responsibility of the local PTA/PTSA board and helps protect your unit, its officers, its members, and its nonprofit status.

If your PTA/PTSA operates under a Council, please continue to work with your Council leadership regarding compliance questions and support. Units that do not operate under a Council may request assistance by sending an email to info@fspta.org.
